What the developer says
Keyboard vs Zombies was made with the help of an AI coding assistant (Anthropic's Claude Code). The assistant helped write the game's code. Some of the game's pixel art, animations and sound effects are procedurally drawn and synthesized by the code we (the human game dev) wrote and iterated with the Claude Code assistant, under our (the human game dev) own extensive design and direction. The chiptune soundtrack was composed note by note in code with the same code assistant; some tracks are arrangements of public-domain classical works (Pachelbel's Canon, Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries, Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor). The store artwork, screenshots and trailer were assembled from real in-game footage and the game's own sprites. During the development process, no image, sound, video or voice generation models were used. Only text generation model (Claude Code) was during the entire game development process. Nothing is generated by AI while you play, and the game does not connect to any AI service.
