What the developer says
Quiver Story uses AI-generated pixel art. The battle backgrounds for all eight regions, the Mission Select region headers cut from them, the story card illustrations, the four job portraits, the title-screen key art, the menu backdrop, four bosses (Bramble Warden, Forest Warlord, Glacier Matriarch, Cinder Wyrm) and eight regular enemies (the four Bramble Meadow critters and the High Forest boar, fox and snail) started as images generated with Stable Diffusion XL 1.0 and the Pixel Art XL LoRA. Generation ran locally on the developer's own machine; no online image service was used. Every image was picked by hand from many candidates, and the enemy art was then cleaned up and animated by hand and in code (faces, outlines, leg and wing animation). The game's text (story, interface and item text) and code were written with the help of an AI assistant and reviewed and edited by the developer. The music, sound effects, fonts, player character and arrows are human-made third-party assets, and the remaining enemies and all UI icons are drawn in code by the developer. All are listed in the in-game credits.

Text and code were AI-assisted but reviewed by the developer. Music, sound, fonts, player character and arrows are human-made or third-party, and enemy art was hand-cleaned and animated. Against: Developer hand-picked, cleaned and animated enemy art, drew remaining enemies and UI icons in code, and used human-made audio and fonts; only one game released, so no volume pattern. |
