Production signals

Facts about who made the game and how players received it. They don't depend on AI, and they help tell a carefully made game that used some AI apart from mass-produced ones.

What the developer says

I’m a solo programmer building Final Night Firefight alongside a day job. I can’t draw or compose music, so I use generative AI tools for some artwork and music. Much of the game’s artwork is created with ChatGPT through an iterative process where I direct, review, and repeatedly rework assets until they fit the game’s visual direction. My time goes into what I can build myself: the combat, progression, matchmaking, and deeply interconnected item systems. For the music, Suho has created a soundtrack that I feel fits the game extremely well, and using AI tools has allowed Final Night Firefight to have a much larger 19-song soundtrack than I could realistically afford otherwise. I’m genuinely proud of what we ended up with. I may eventually replace some or all of the AI-assisted artwork with professionally created art if the game ever gets the funding to make that possible, but that is currently uncertain. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay.

Reasoning

The developer discloses AI-generated artwork and music, two major asset types, so scope is major. They describe directing and reworking art and building the core systems themselves, showing real development effort. Only one game, not yet released, with no volume-release pattern.

Against: Developer states AI content is not generated during gameplay and describes an iterative, directed art process, which points to effort rather than mass production.
