What the developer says

Gladiator's Revenge is made by one developer. The developer drew the fighters, their armour and the original talisman medallions himself. AI tools were used for these parts: - Backgrounds: most fight, arena, shop and map backgrounds were generated with Google's image AI and then edited. - Story: the comic pages of the story are AI edits (Google's Nano Banana) of the game's own art. - Item icons: 72 of the 117 talisman icons are AI edits (FLUX Kontext and Google's Nano Banana) of the developer's own hand-drawn medallions. The achievements show the same icons. - Two faces: the Twins' and the Giant's faces are AI edits (FLUX Kontext) of the developer's own gladiator head. - Interface art: the HUD frames, the skill tier icons and the app icon were drawn as vector graphics by an AI assistant, partly from the game's own sprites. - Music and sound: the short music at the end of a run was made with Stable Audio, and some sound effects with ElevenLabs. - Translations: the 24 languages besides English were translated with AI. Native speakers have not checked them yet. - Store page: the text of this page and its translations were written with AI help. - Videos: some of our social media videos use an AI narration voice (ElevenLabs). Nothing is generated by AI while you play.

Reasoning

The disclosure lists AI generation across several major asset types: backgrounds, story comics, item icons, UI art, audio and translations. Hand-drawn fighters, armour and medallions show real development effort, and nothing is generated live. Only one game exists with no rapid release pattern, so effort risk stays medium.

Against: The developer hand-drew characters, armour and original medallions, and AI edits were applied to their own art; no live AI generation occurs during play.
