What the developer says
World maps in National Transit are created with procedural (algorithmic) generation, not AI. Terrain, rivers, coastlines and city placement are generated algorithmically at the start of each playthrough. Feature names, terminology and core rules are written by the developer. Generative AI is used in the following places: • Icons and 2D art: a portion (91 out of 174) of the in-game icons and 2D art are AI-generated; the rest are hand-drawn. • The following in-game text: – Help texts – Name pools used by the procedural generator, including company names, organisation names, place names and description templates – System messages such as errors, confirmations, empty states and action hints – Policy and industry descriptions added from v2.0 onwards • Localisation: all supported languages, including English, are translated with the help of AI/machine translation. The game does not generate any AI content live during gameplay. Store page and announcements: all supported languages, including English, are translated with the help of AI/machine translation.

One release in 12 months with 67 reviews at 95% positive suggests real effort rather than volume output. Against: Roughly half the art is hand-drawn and core design, rules and terminology are human-written; procedural generation is not AI. |
