What the developer says
I wrote most of this game’s code myself, with AI assistance on a small portion. I designed its architecture, built the systems used across the game, and wrote most of the game-specific logic. The art, music, and sound effects were made with the help of generative AI. I developed the characters and the game’s world, set the overall mood and visual style, and described the content and composition I wanted for the images. I also selected and revised the AI-generated results. The promotional images and concept trailers on the Steam store page were also made with the help of generative AI. I wrote the entire story, directed every scene, and designed all player interactions. I also designed each level’s core concept, design intent, techniques, and pacing. I set the constraints and used a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) solver to generate a vast pool of candidate levels in advance, rather than having generative AI produce them directly. I playtested and selected from the candidates, refining the constraints along the way until I arrived at the final levels. Each level has exactly one solution and can be solved without guessing. Translations into languages other than Chinese currently use AI assistance. If any of this still bothers you, I understand. If you give the game a try, I believe the best parts of the experience come from a bit of old-fashioned craft, even if it’s a little rough around the edges. — Onovich

The developer describes substantial manual work on code, story, and level design, including a CSP solver for levels. No release history in the last 12 months, so volume-based risk signals are absent. Against: Developer reports writing most code, all story, and designing levels and interactions themselves, indicating real production effort despite heavy AI asset use. |
