Production signals

Facts about who made the game and how players received it. They don't depend on AI, and they help tell a carefully made game that used some AI apart from mass-produced ones.

What the developer says

The game uses background images sourced from royalty-free image sites with user-submitted images, many of which being photos while other submissions may be AI-generated. As such, we cannot guarantee that none of the background images are AI-generated without meticulously checking each one, and hope you'll be informed going in. No AI was used to generate gameplay content or in the code. All of the character art, sprites, UI are drawn by a human artist.

Reasoning

The disclosure says only background images from royalty-free sites may be AI-generated, while gameplay, code, and character art are human-made. Developer has few releases and no volume pattern. AI touches a small, peripheral asset type.

Against: Developer cannot verify which backgrounds are AI-generated, so some in-game art may be AI; only 7 reviews long after release is a mild volume signal.
