What the developer says
Territory is made by a single developer with no team. It began as a hand-built game with no AI involvement. Continuing development to take it to release would not have been possible without the assistance of AI, and the current version was rebuilt and improved with AI tools, directed and reviewed by the developer. AI-generated content in the game: UI, Item and crafting icons. Some environment and building textures. Some sound effects and character voice lines. A handful of 3D models created fully with AI. Other 3D models improved with AI assistance. Some store page art and marketing materials. Everything is reviewed, edited and fitted by hand before it goes into the game. AI coding assistants are used in writing the game’s code as it allows for very complex NPC behaviors and other systems that improve the game including the multiplayer net code. Game design and world building are the developer’s own work. Most 3D models and animation come from licensed asset packs or the developer’s own work. No content is generated by AI while you play, and the game does not connect to any AI service. If you don't like AI generated content that's fine, please don't purchase the game.

| Source | Their take |
|---|---|
| Steam disclosure | AI content disclosed |
| AI judgment deepseek-flash | AI-heavy · AI scope: major · effort risk: lowReasoningThe disclosure lists AI-generated icons, textures, sound effects, voice lines, and 3D models, covering several major asset types. Coding assistants were also used, though design, world-building, and most models are the developer's own or licensed. A single developer with one release and 59 reviews shows no volume-release pattern. Against: The developer states everything is hand-reviewed and edited, most 3D models and animation come from licensed packs or own work, and no AI runs during play; this points to real effort rather than mass production. |
